my oral presentation
i honestly thought that this final project would be pretty difficult, but it actually hasn't been too bad. i liked how it was broken down for us so that we weren't too overwhelmed. the hardest part may have been collecting all the research in the databases and writing up the annotated bibliography. i had never done one until this assignment. it was a really long process that i wish to never have to do again. anyway, my oral presentation wasn't too bad either. i dont like being up in front of the class for presentations, but it was okay. i survived it. now if only i got better than a 24! but hey, what can you do? anyway, all in all this class has been a big help. the writing assgnments have been helpful and i did things i had never done before such as minutes, transmittal letters, dossiers, and so forth. it was definitely beneficial for my major and concentration.

i want a job in the field...
i was talking to my friend esther the other day and she was telling me how she applied online for a job at macys. We are both marketing majors so im always curious about what she's up to in school and work.
on her application, she mentioned that she was a marketing major. she told me that within about a week, she got a response and was asked to come in for an interview. she was going to be interviewed for a position to do the visuals for the oakridge store. it was really interesting for me to hear because i am very interested in getting into the field of retail, especially visuals.
it really got me thinking. i think that soon would be a really good time for me to get into a good job that can give me more experience in my concentration. i want to be able to have a some real experience in my major before i get my degree.

marketing advisement
I attended my marketing advisement today. I almost forgot all about it. Good thing I didn't cos I would have missed out on a couple key issues. Not only that, but if I had missed it, I wouldn't be able to register for classes next semester! That wouldn't be good. The last thing I need is another obstatacle from getting me closer to graduation.
Anyway, the advisement wasn't really as helpful as I thought it would be. It talked about studying abroad and the honors program. Both seem like really interesting programs, but I just thought it would be more focused on the Marketing concentration. Well, it did have a couple good suggestions of classes to take for certain ineterests that a person might want to pursue in marketing. It showed suggestions for people interested in Reatailing and retail managemtn, as well as business to business marketing. Both interest me, so it was good to kow which electives would help me out the most if those were the paths I wanted to pursue.
So it helped, but not as much as i thought it would, but still a good experience.

no strike...
so i learned just a couple days ago that there would be no strike. i had mixed emotions about this. i know that most students were kinda excited to possibly have a strike because then we wouldn't have to attend some of our classes. i mean, it would be ice to catch a little break from classes. but at the same time, im glad that there is no strike because that means that there will be 2 days to review for my 140 midterm. that class is getting pretty tough and that extra day to review could really help.

real estate
So I was talking to my friend yesterday because he had just attented a meeting for people who are interested in getting their real estate's license. He graduated with a finance degree from SJSU last year. Anyway, he was saying that there's a lot to go through if you wanna get into realestate, as far as becoming an agent. He wasn't sure if he wanted to invest that much time into the whole process, but he found out another way to make money in real estate. He found out that if he were to find a buyer for any property, all he had to do was tell one of the agents. If in the end, the person he recommended for the property buys, he gets 6% commission, as sort of a "finder's fee." That's a pretty good commission for just finding someone to buy property.

CSU strike...
So I just read the article in the Mercury news talking about a strike that may occur in mid-March. That is a big sign how big problems are in the CSU system if professors and teachers want to strike. This will not only affect the faculty in the CSU's but also the students. It's been a rough raod for students also. Very semester since I've attended San Jose State, the tuition has gone up. Not only that, but the nooks required are way overpriced. Many students don't get too much financial help from their parents. Sure the school offers students to sell back books at the end of each semester, but half the time we can't sell the books back because a new edition has been published! So then we get stuck with books that we will probably never use again, but we paid nearly two-hundred dollars for. How ridiculous is that?! If the faculty goes on strike, we students area affected greatly. We are basically paying a high price for an education we may not get completetly if teachers go on strike.

the REAL world
Wow! Time has gone by so fast. It seems like just yesterday I was starting my first day of college. And now, I'm in my third year. I can still remember filling out my college application online and marking undeclared for my major. And now, I'm a Marketing major. It's all gone by so quick. Hwre has all the time gone? Pretty soon I'm going to be in my last year of college, and then I'll be graduating. It's getting so difficult as I move up this college ladder. What am I going to do? The real world starts the moment I get that degree in my hand, but I don't even know where my life is headed.
I'm so stressed out as it is. It's been tough trying to juggle school, work, and somewhat of a social life. How could I even make it through life after college when I can barely handle everything in my life as it is. I have it so easy right now with my parents helping me out financially. How am I going to survive when I'm tossed out into the real world?
